What does that word mean? Find a definition, antonym, or synonym on the Web
Need to find a word definition? There are a number of ways you can do that via the Web.
Use Google: Type define, then a colon, then your word. For example: define:eclipse. You can also type in what does eclipse mean? and Google will be able to understand what you're talking about (it will be in the first search result: "Web definitions for eclipse").
Use a dictionary. Many of the world's most popular dictionaries that you probably have in book form in your own home are on the Web; i.e., Dictionary and Thesaurus - Merriam-Webster Online, Cambridge Dictionary.
Use a niche dictionary. Find the definitions of slang words at the Urban Dictionary, math terms at Mathwords, phrases at OneLook.
Use a language dictionary. Translate something with the Online English Chinese Dictionary, Spanish to English Translation Dictionary, or Forvo: the pronunciation guide, with all the words in the world pronounced by native speakers.
f you're planning on flying somewhere during the holiday season, you can save yourself some time and aggravation by checking in ahead of time on the Web. Not all airlines offer this option, but here are a few that do:
US Airways
Alaska Airlines
Hawaiian Air
Swiss Air
Delta Air
American Airlines
Air Jamaica
Austria Airlines
Midwest Airlines
United Airlines
You'll need your flight number and your confirmation/booking number in order to check in, but it really does save you a lot of hassle once you get to the airport; most of the time, they have kiosks set up specifically for folks who have checked in via the Web or would like to do so at the airport.
