I saw providing Test IP's to Pre-Sales FAQ is really nice. Specifically, when anyone posts offer here at WHT, it seems very nice.
But, some provider don't share it publicly, rather than tells to contact sales (Although it has no problem) or tells to send him a PM. I think some thinks that Test IP means to provide his own servers IP. But, I think it's not like that. If you know that which DataCenter you are using, then you can directly go to that DataCenters website and take their Test IP and Network is same.
Some says that providing this publicly makes a security issue as DDoS Attack can take place. But, if you provide IP's other than your owned server, then I don't think it is a security risk.
Providing Test IP means to check latency, ping time, response time etc. So, Anyone can provide the Test IP's of that Datacenter he uses.
What's your opinion ?? Does this mean that you will provide your rented server's IP or Datacenters ??
Not necessarily.
Some providers run their own networks, entirely independent of any datacentre's they use
Others have their own equipment which may/may-not affect the latency etc
The DC test Ip may be on a dedicated test 10Gb/s machine vs the provider giving you an IP on one of their actual servers, so you can see actual performance, routes, etc
Just because someone is hosted with datacentre-x does not mean you'll get the same service as if you went to datacentre-x yourself, or that other people in datacentre-x get.
Besides, people don't tend to attack test IP addresses. In 3 years ours has only been attacked once.
